My name is Tiara Tiana. I am an African American printmaker of Cuban descent, born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and currently based in Charlotte, North Carolina. I hold a BFA in Printmaking from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I received comprehensive training in techniques such as intaglio, drypoint, collagraph, and screen printing. My work explores themes of Black womanhood, generational trauma, care, and transformation through a combination of traditional printmaking methods and mixed media practices, including collage and fabric. Each piece begins with a graphite illustration and evolves into a layered composition that blends figurative and textile elements. With a soft, introspective aesthetic, my work reimagines memory and identity through intimate visual storytelling. Since becoming a full-time artist in October 2024, I have been actively pursuing fellowships and professional opportunities to expand my technical and conceptual range. Currently, I am investing time in integrating textiles into my artistic practice. I aim to deepen my engagement with material, process, and community through each earned creative opportunity.
